Positive Parenting

Level 1 and 2

An evidence-based course on parent counselling

Need for a parent counselling course

Breakdown in traditional support structures

The rise of nuclear families & changing social structures have left parents alone & grappling to raise their children without guidance

PRIMARY PREVENTION

When parents are educated early, they feel equipped to deal with challenges early, and this sets the stage for better child outcomes

UNIQUE CHALLENGES

Today’s parents are facing challenges which were not faced by their parents.

They’re torn between the traditional role of parenting & modern expectations of current times

intergENERATIONAL TRAUMA

When parents who suffered trauma in their own childhood don’t process it, they’re more likely to pass it down to their children

evidence-based strategies

When parents are given tools & techniques based on research, they feel empowered to raise well-adjusted children

BUT WHERE CAN PARENTS ACCESS THIS LEARNING?

Why I created this course

After I completed my PhD, I was consulting with a lot of children & adolescents in my private practice. But I saw how parents were unintentionally undoing the therapeutic learning I was sharing with these kids.

I realized the need to develop a language to speak to the parents & bring them in as equal stakeholders in the healing process.

I felt unequipped...

Around that time, I became a parent myself. And despite an M.Phil & a PhD in Clinical Psychology, I felt ill-equipped to parent my own child.

So I sought to supplement my training with education in parenting. I joined the Parenting & Family Support Centre (University of Queensland, Australia) for a postdoc.

My Story

My Story

Being a cycle breaker

My learning in those 2 years of immersion in parenting research & education helped me develop skills as a parenting educator, with knowledge of the most cutting-edge research in parenting across the world.

But most importantly, it left imprints on me as a person. As a child who was brought up by a very strict authoritarian father, a father who didn’t understand that it’s not punishment but connection that helps nurture a child, I didn’t want the same upbringing for my own children.

So here we are!

And so, I decided to pour this knowledge of positive parenting into my life and my work.

This training program is a culmination of my work with hundreds of parents through clinical practice & workshops, knowledge of parenting research, AND my own experience of raising myself as a parent.

Testimonials

Mansi

Portfolio Manager, Millenium

When our second one was born, Meghna was incredibly insightful in helping us prepare our first one for the big change in his life. Since then she has become our go-to expert for parenting advice as we deal with other usual growing up issues for our son. Her guidance is always practical, kind & sensitive.

Kunal

Education Specialist, World Bank

We had a normal delivery & a healthy child, but we were very anxious about the new experience. Dr. Meghna made things so much easier for us. She not only provided us with solid parenting advice (which I still swear by) but also counselled us & helped us be more confident & less anxious & reactive parents.

Puja

Director, Financial Sponsor Coverage, Bank of America

I’m a mom of 2 pre-teen daughters. Dr Meghna has helped me acknowledge their daily struggles, problem solve with them, handle bigger issues like beauty, gender stereotypes, right ages to give them phone, puberty conversations.

Dr. Meghna has given me tools to be a better parent.
